Sorry for the omission! The scientific name is Danio choprai and I don't think they're related to the zebra danio (danio rerio) or its genetically altered variant.

Yep. Danio choprae is the scientific name. As far as tankmates are concerned, anything with peaceful personality actually will work. As these are rather feisty specimens, you might want to provide them a spacious tank along with loaches for tankmates.

They can be. That is the problem with common names, they cause confusion.

Glowlights can be Danio choprae, the type the OP has.

Or they can be the zebra danios that are modified.
