I have (5) full grown Glolight Danios in my 20 gallon (24" long) that I bought less than two weeks ago, and 1 white cloud and 6 amano shrimp 2 olive nerita snails for tankmates.
They used to always school (very active fish!), one has now stopped schooling for the most part and swims mainly in and around my clay pot or around the outside. It doesn't appear ill because it's still active and looks well and eats well, it just doesn't swim very far and it chases the other danios when they come close to it.
I also just did a 25% water change yesterday where I did a thorough gravel vac (which I always do), the temp is 76 and the pH 7.2 and the ammonia 0.
Is there any other reason that the fish would be hovering around this pot other than breeding? Is there any other way I could tell if she was breeding? I think it's a her because she's more grey and less colorful, and 3 of mine are very colorful and 2 are more grey. (So since the two smaller ones are more grey, I don't think the one is sick.)
I've been looking online about their breeding habits and I don't see anything here about them becoming territorial over a certain area, etc.
Months ago I lostthe original batch of white cloud minnows mysteriously, and about 3 weeks later after a thorough plant cleaning - I discovered a tiny fry who was this big | | !!
It took 1.5 months but it succeeded in becoming a full grown Golden White cloud, so I guess there has been breeding in that tank before?
Thanks for any thoughts.
