Any advice on placing a feather duster in sand when you own a goby? Will they nip it? Dig it up? Cause too much stress on the FD?

Also i have a deep sand bed.

also.......sorry.....if i have Live sand, with a goby, will he eat all the live organisms in it therefore making it normal sand??

My first feather duster was out of his tube when I got him. LFS guy accidently pulled him out of his tube trying to get him off the rock. I put him in my tank, and within 30 minutes my goby ate him.

With my next feather duster, I put him on the sand between two rocks, and he attached himself to a rock. My goby has never messed with him.

My goby doesn't eat all the good stuff out of the sand. He prefers the mixture I feed the other fish, and has really slacked off on his sand cleaning responsibilities lately.

I have never had any of my gobies bother my feather dusters. The only way I could see a goby eating a feather duster is if its dying or exposed from its tube.

As for the sand bed question. If you house a goby in suitable tank size then you shouldn't have any trouble. It also depends on the type of goby. Sand shifters love to dig and filter through the sand. My shrimp goby hasn't shown any interest in the sand. It prefers prepared food.
