which fish should I get? The yellow headed jawfish or the diamond watchman goby? I have a very lightly stocked 25 gallon nano cube with a cleaner shrimp and a fire fish . The problem with the jawfish is that I heard that they might make their burrow in the back so u can't see them . Do any of u guys have any experience with these fish?

They both do better with a substrate that isn't sugar fine in my opinion, especially the jawfish which will benefit from some larger pieces to build it's burrow. What kind of substrate do you have? I have a different kind of goby that is a sandsifter and love it. I don't have a jawfish but I've cared for one in the past and it is true that don't always build their burrow where you want them to. Much like the sand sifting gobies don't leave the sand where you want it.

hmm..... I also heard that sand sifting gobies are not very willing to start taking prepared foods. But my Lfs told me that it is more likleh for it to start eating rather than starving to death is this true? I would rather get one of these guys instead of the jawfish. I am also willing to start up a refugium for it if it is necessary

The diamond watchman will eat anything and everything. He will also make a mess of your sand while trying to make a home. What I've done for the jawfish is take a PVC pipe around 5" long, cap one end and stick that in the sand. Make about 3 of them, they will live in it. For the watchman you can't do anything but try to fix your sand. Give him a big rock in the shape of an upside down bowl and he'll burrow under it. The same thing though they like having multiple homes.

Also you need about 3" of sand for the Watchman and about 5" for the Jawfish.
