I built my entire lighting setup from scratch and i got everything at lowes/home depot. Im attaching some pics to give you a general idea what i did.
Floodlights with r40 reflectors give a more focused beam of light to the bottom of the tank, which can be important depending upon how deep it is.
Don't settle for bulbs less than 6000k... try to get at least 6500k. I have 6500k and they are working well.
