Going to set up a 10 gal Qt

Im getting ready to set up a 10 gal Qt tank. I have a 92 gal corner tank but have not added fish for a long time ( almost a year).
So I have a plan to get a new fish and thought about setting up a 10 gal for a qt.
I had planned on not using copper at all. So would it be safe to set up a 10 gal with LR and LS and some CUC and just leave it running all the time?
If I used water, rock , sand from my main tank I would not have to go through a cycle. Am i correct in thinking this?
Now being that i do not want to use copper because I plan on using the 10 gal for a grow tank also for capulera. Is there others was to treat a fish if it gets sick with out harming the capulera.
My LFS is really good about if a fish comes in that I want they will hold it for me for a couple of weeks in a tank by itself to make sure it is healthy. My sister works there so that helps a bit with the good treatment that i get

Copper isn't used to treat all parasite/diseases just some. Even in those cases there is often an alternative such as hyposalinity. Unfortunately even hypo is lethal to inverts and I'd not plan on substrate staying live around it's use.

The other issue is that QT and hospital situations are better served in my opinion by a bare bottom so that you can monitor food consumption and feces as well as make cleaning up any mess and potential parasites via vaccum. My newbie link below has my suggestions for setting up a QT.
