Going with live plants after 3 months

water sprite doesn't fare too well in salt. during the 2 weeks of ich treatment in my tank, it's leaves melted and rotted.

Anachris can definitely be planted, it will grow roots. Just be aware that if planted, the bottoms of the stems (which are usually green) can rot due to lack of light, thereby adding to ammonia, nitrite, etc.

Most plants (although I'm not totally sure) can tolerate lower temps, as long as it's not freezing, of course :p:
Higher temperatures are better for them because it helps speed up photosynthesis, IME. Like my tank rose to 82 degrees during a "heat wave" (I live by the ocean) and my plants starting releasing oxygen like crazy. I didn't see any "pearling", but there were strings of tiny bubbles coming off of them and rising to the surface.

youre most welcome, sly. Oh, yeah, and I forgot to thank you for the e-mail. It was very considerate of you :)

So it sounds like Anachris, Java Moss, and Java Fern is what I need to start with (and not the Water Sprite).

I just need to do everything I can to make the tank as safe as possible for these fish, and anything to balance out the parameters, and lessen the chances of any parasites/fungi getting in and infesting them is an investment in both time and money that I am going to make.

P.S. You are welcome, and thank you for always helping me out! :)

Well, I wasn't always helpful. I did call you something about being right-winged, remember? ;) I'm glad those days are over and you're still on this forum :)
