Gold Banded Maroon

I have a question about these fish. I purchased two of them, both small in hopes they would pair up. Well one chases the other all over the place and the one that is being chased has nipped fins. he is still eating but stays in the back top corner of my tank. Is this one establishing dominance or is it only I hate you and want you gone? Any insite would be appreciated.

You wont be able to tell until you let it ride out, the same happened with mine.

Did yours pair up or did one just kill the other one?

First i had two females, i traded a female in for a small one and they paired up

from what Ive heard, maroons are very agressive towards each other. I think that you would need extreme luck or hardy specimens that can take eachothers beatings if you want them to pair up. What you are seeing is causing stress that will eventually kill one of them.
