hi .. i have a 40L tank.. my fishes got this problem of finrot..and i got this medicine of Tetra for this problem.. all of my fishes are healed up only this one is left... so i shifted this to a bowl... as i dont have extra tank ..and dont want to keep it in the same tank because it will infect others too..the reason i am starting a topic is .. my fish was healing up.. but suddenly its fins are rotting again.. dont know why . could you tell me its reason.. or any other treatment to save my fish ??

if i put that back to the tank will that not effect others... ?? even i dont want it to be in that bowl.. but i dont have any other option... it was doing very well in past few days .. i was about to put it back in the tank.. but then again rotting started dont know why ... :S
If you have finrot, it's generally caused by poor water conditions. We'll need to know what your water parameters and temperature are.
It's a good idea to put the goldfish back in with the others because, A) goldfish should never be in bowls. and B) if one fish is suffering, the others probably are as well. For finrot, it doesn't just appear, it's a symptom of some other issue.
So first:
1. Check your water parameters. If you don't have a test kit, this is the time to buy one. Most pet stores will have them. You need a kit that tests for Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite, pH, and chlorine. If it tests for more things than these, that's fine. You need one that AT LEAST tests these.
2. AFTER you've tested the water, post your results. That will help us determine what's going on.
In the meantime, use this sheet (it's a PDF file) to find any problems you might have.

There are hundreds of different "diseases and problems" goldfish get. However, if you're not seeing any other symptoms, just the finrot, don't worry about looking for an illness that's not there. Right now, we want to concentrate on the finrot. Which is probably a water quality issue.
For now, if you can't test your water, put everyone back in the tank and perform a 50% water change with dechlorinated tap water. Heat the tank (SLOWLY) up to 78 degrees. This you'll want to be extremely careful about. No more than 4 degrees per 12 hours. So if you're at 70 now, turn your heater up to 72, wait 6 hours, then 74, wait 6 hours, then 76, wait 6 hours, then 78. You don't want to shock the fish.
Finally, add some aquarium salt (NOT table salt)- about two tablespoons. If you have Prime, add some of that as well.
The heat and salt help fish heal, and since you're probably having a water quality issue, the 50% water change will help that.

well 3-4 fishes of mine got finrot and they died.. including this one but this one survived.. rest of them were fine i separated it... and it was separate from i think 3 weeks .. and my other fishes in tank are doing well so i guess ther is no problem now with the water... now wat i do is treat my water with tetra medicines... one is aquasafe.. which ceutrilizes all heavy metals and chlorine in water and makes in safe for the fishes .. ( helps in healing and reducing stress aswell) and second is Easy balance... which balances levels of ph/nitrate/nitrite etc... so that helps alot and my fishes are doing good now ...
can you explain me the salt treatment for fishes as i have freshwater tank.. 40L ... Dolphin filter(you probably wont be fimiliar with it .. but its commonly used here and its good ) it has sponge in the bottom then. carbon above ... as ots my second month so i havnt cleaned my gravel.. infact i think i dont need them.. because currently they are very less ..its a thin layer at the bottom...
