hmm... did you spray fly spray or anything near the tank? i really can't think of anything (but my knowledge is pretty limited) how about heat flutuations? is your heater ok? i don't really know :( it sucks to lose a fish... especially for no reason...

I make sure nothing is sprayed near the tank, noone touches it but me, the heater is on at 82.3 degrees constant, no fluctuations
 
Maybe they where just old and died of natural causes. Fish are not immortal, even in perfect water.
 
Definate possibility, I Still miss it though, It was the biggest fish in the tank, now some of the other ones are growing faster
