Gold gouramis spawned.....

Horray, I got my first spawn from my gold gouramis.... :clap: :clap: :dance2: :dance2: :thm: :thm: Now what???? I know they will hatch over the next day and a half. I have infusoria in the pond and in a 1 quart jar outside. So I should feed with that for the first week? What next???? Im so excited....whooooooooohooooooooooo!!

So, I see the male eagerly taking care of the nest.....I still dont know if I should be doing anything to help in any way. I guess you can say that I am eager to get a reply as to what to do.

Good luck Flutter...I have never bred gouramis....but I have bred bettas...(once...ONLY once !).....I would let dad take care of the eggs while they're in the bubblenest.

OR....you could sneak a proper size bowl up under the nest and just let it float in there until the eggs hatch. I did this once with a betta..........I used a walmart size (about 16ozs) and scooped dad and the bubble nest into the bowl. It was easy to do because the male was right under the nest all the time. It made it lots easier for him to keep the eggs in the nest, didn't have to go so far to collect them...and it's also easy to do a water change in the bowl....just use an airline to syphon some out..(being careful not to get any fry or eggs)..and add clean fresh. I floated another bowl with just clean change water in the tank with him and used that for water changes...that way the temp is exactly right.

That's just some ideas for you to consider......when the eggs hatch the fry will have an egg sack for a few days and won't need to feed right away.....you can move them into a growout tank....hope you have one ready and cycled that you can use....if they're in a bowl already, that will be easy to do.
