I purchased a gold seam pleco a while back. For about the first three weeks I had him, he wouldn't come out to eat, just stayed in his cave and was getting very very thin. But now he comes out to eat at night. Phew, I was getting worried. Anyway, I've been searching all over the internet for info on this species but can't find any. The closest thing I can find is a red seam pleco. I'm just looking for basic info on these: eating habbits, full size, any special diet they should be on, aggressiveness, etc. Does anyone have a gold seam? Or know much about them? His body is a mottled/spotted grey with a gold/yellow stripe on his caudal and dorsal fins. I don't have a way to post a pic, I know it would be helpful.

Thanks for the link, jd. The closest thing on that site was a gold trim panaque (L360). They said, however, that it appears to be a species of hypostomus. I guess i don't know the difference between a panaque and a hypostomus. Can anyone elaborate on that? At first glance, they didn't have much info on that fish. I'll snoop around the site some more and see if I can find something. But hey, it's closer than I was before. Thanks again.

Aye, I've seen pics of the mango pleco. I'm pretty sure that's not it. My pleco is still pretty small, around 2 inches, so maybe his/her color isn't fully developed yet. But I'm starting to lean towards a Gold Nugget Pleco. All the pictures that I've been able to find are of full grown adults, or of fry, so it's pretty hard to say for sure. Guess I'll have to wait until it gets bigger. It's pretty darned shy though, which makes it even harder to get a good look at him. I really should move it's cave a bit so I can keep a better eye on it. But it being so shy I don't want to stress it out by always sticking my face in there. It took nearly three weeks for him to get comfortable enough just to come out and eat when the lights are off.

Anyway, thanks for all the help folks. Very much appreciated. :)

Woohoo, I found it. L106, the Spotted Orange Seam Pleco. There was another by that name but different number, L122. They were both a very close match, but the L122's spots weren't quite as evident. I finally found them on planetcatfish.

Before I looked at that website, I had no idea there were so many different pleco's. I thought that there were perhaps ten or fifteen types. I was way off.

Anyway, thanks again for the link and the suggestions/advice.
