This is not for those who think muppies are evil and should be destroyed. So if you do, go away and don't post here. I do not want to be grilled for having a single muppy, it was not intentional, but it was a blessing.

My tank:
Mollies-used to have males in the 40gal, moved/moving them to the 20gal as i find them among the fry.
Guppies-2 females

Those are the only important ones.

What i think happened is that one of my male mollies, the biggest(deceased), is the father and one of the guppies is the mother. Why, because it looks like a molly, but has the coloration of a guppy. The top fish is a very nice semi-metalic gold color, and the body is tan to green/brown in color. The fins are clear to tan/gold in color. Is it really a muppy as i believe or could it just be a strange looking molly? And can muppies breed with mollies, or are they sterile like mules and ligers?

Awe come on! NO PICS! I for one say more power to you! Do what your heart pleases! YaY for Muppies!! LoL!

I will be able to put some pics up (if the muppy stays still) when i get home from school at 3-4 pm. And if the internet works at home.

I am interested in checking out the pics as well. Personally I don't think a hybrid is such a bad thing as long as the fish is healthy.

Can't wait to see the pics!!!!

I see nothing wrong with hybrids, there are many nice fish that are actually hybrids. As long as you are not trying to sell them to others as something they are not, that is the only time I would have a problem with it. I really don't see how it so different then a mixed breed puppy ;)

From what I have read muppies are all sterile. Of course so are mules and I personally know someone who found and bred 2 fertile mules and I know of a large number of other oops incidents because "all" mules are sterile.

Pics and better description.

These some of the worst pics I've ever seen, but my tank is very active, and the muppy seems to be the most active fish in there. Sheesh, how do you people get good pics??? I blame my mac, my aim, and the muppy. Anyway, here are some crappy pics of the muppy, named Muppy(very original, right? The name just fits) The pics make her/him look more tan then gold/brown, but she/he is really very nice. I just hope the pics actually work...

Expanding on Muppies coloration. Sides: Brown-green with gold-tan on the top parts and more white on the bottom. Dorsal Fin: Black stripes of dots with metallic gold stripes of dots on a clear background. Other fins: Semi-clear tan color like a normal guppy. Metallic blue/green dot under the eye/on the gills. Only seeable when the light hits it right, and not in my pics. Unlike in mollies, you can see Muppys stomach and the black thing near the bas of the tail. Dought thats possible in the pics, they really suck... And thats as much as i can see which Muppy moving so much.

In order from left to right its: Muppy in the light, Muppy with super zoom, and muppy without super zoom. Then a tank shot. See if you can find Muppy! And it is definitely a muppy, all the other mollies are black and light brown, black and white, or white and black. With some blue speckles that Muppy has none of.

Oh gosh, it's so hard to see. Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me it looks like a preggo female!
