Thanks for the info. I am not upset about no babies, just wondering. I have two ponds now so maybe something will happen. I do notice that the fish are very active from time to time, especially in the early morning. Maybe something is going on!!! Thanks, koigarden

you say they're active in the morning.... are they flopin around with eachother in plants? That's what mine did before they laid eggs... to ensure survivors, I left the plants in for 3 days after seeing the initial floping and then moved them to another location. not I have atleast 13 that are close to an inch long and maybe 30ish that are smaller.
Oh, and a very small batch of eggs on my iris plant... I put that in a bucket of water with an airator.

The minnows or the goldies and Koi are eating the eats and/or fry. My goldfish spawn every spring w/o any surviving fry. The parents or my channel cat eat any and all eggs. I don't mind since it is a nice protein load for my fish and helps gets they digestion going. I have in the past used Water lettuce or Hyacinth since they have a good root system for spawning. I just remove the plants and place them in a tank w/well oxygenated water and a little meds to prevent fungus. Wigglers appear in a few days.
