Goldfish ID

I agree with Flaringshutter that it is a true comet. A very beautiful one. I would love to have it in my tank. It looks like you've been taking good care of it.

It's pretty much impossible to say if it is male or female from the photo... but just to be contrary to flaringshutter, I'll guess it's a female.

Wow..I am very suprised at the response..lol! Thanks for clearing this up for me..my hubby and I have been wondering for a long while now. Also, thanks for all the kind comments. He is our big beautiful boy (in leiu of children...some people have dogs..some fish)..lol. I swear he knows when we walk into a room! And he will follow us across the tank as we walk across a room. He does a little "dance" at the corner of his tank when he is hungry. He always makes me smile. tropical fish are pretty but nothing beats a goldfish :D

Totally agree!

I agree too, nothing like goldfish.

ok, if I'm wrong I'm wrong, but I don't see it.

Looking at one of Flaringshutter's (I used to have a red one much like this)

and then this image from http://www.pondandgardennursery.com/shubunkin.php

While I agree that we're just seeing differences of gene expression and body shape to do our naming of goldfish (much like dogs) I don't see why these are different. I'm making the assumption that Flaringshutter's is also not a Shubunkin.

Looking forward to the guidance.

Yeah, pretty much :) Thats one way to think about it
