I want to get into the goldfish hobby agian, but the only avaliable tank I have left is an empty 20 long with hob filters. Would their be any goldfish that can leave in a 20 for about 5-6 months or until the pond is finished then added to the 150??
I like orandos, and fancies. But do they get to big??
How big do red cap orandos get??

Goldies growth are depended on a few things. Size of tank, food but most importantly genetics. Given good breeding, big enough tanks and high quality food the fish will keep growing.

As for the 20Gal tank, I wouldn't have more than 3 fish.

Ok so how does 2 red cap orandos, 1 black moor, and 1 bubbleeye sound? For about 3-4 months at the least. I would do water changes every other day.

You could keep one goldfish in a 20 gallon tank. Personally, I wouldn't do it because goldies are social fish who do best with at least one buddy. And even if it is a temporary set up, a couple of goldfish would produce too much waste in a tank that small, meaning you'd have to over-filter and do two or three gravel vacs and water changes a week to maintain a healthy environment.

yeah, I would definitely advise against using goldfish in a 20 gallon.... 2 in a tank, I wouldn't go for anything smaller than a 30 at the very least.... for round bodies
