goldfish issue......

wow, these babies will get big wont they?
i dont have any spare filters,i'll have to go to wal-mart(i hate them but they have good prices when the box is ripped or dented:devil: ) and pick one up,my friend brought them to me in a bowl,so i moved them to the tan gal at least.

Do what you can for them and release to the pond in late spring once the pond has heated up. They should start to grow again once in.

I got my biggest at around 6 inches so in less than 3 months he has grown a lot.

Here are the gang - theres 4 that are fantail crosses. The calicos are shubunkin x fantails
The all white with bits of red is the other sarasa

wow. nice fish there! biggest fish i've ever had were about 6 in. i had to wait on the 1000+g pond because i went to florida for the summer but i'm resuming the digging process. right now it's about 2.5-3ft deep and a total of 5 yards long. i'm trying to achieve a depth of 5 feet, atm. 5 yrds x 3 yrds wide x 4-5 ft. deep would allow me to have 21 18" fish. i already have about 8-9. mostly comets, i do have two koi, one a white butterfly the other a gold/orange and black ghost koi.

P.S. i do know my ponds are severely overstocked. thus the digging for the newer one shall presume.

See, people dont realize that these little tiny things have the potential to grow really big. Ive no idea how old mine are as ive only had them since about June but they should be less than 2 years.
With yours having colour they will be around 1 year at least and should be around 3 inches not including tail.
So the more water you can give them now then the better chance of them getting to a decent size. Im expecting my biggest one to get well over a foot long.

mtiller - your new pond sounds like its going to be great, would really like to see pics as you get going going with it and some of the fish you have now.

i had a feeling they were going to get big,how many gals do they need when fully grown???

Mine are getting 100 gallons each but really they shouldnt be in tanks so in a pond they will do ok if you allow them 75 gallons minimum each.
