I did what wataugachicken said to do.

1. I think I have a Male and a Female Goldfish pair and sometimes, the male pushes his nose into the female's belly. Is this normal or is it courtship behavior?

2. Right before I feed my Goldfishes, they start to swim up and down on the front left corner of the tank eradically, but after they are done eating, they calm down and scavenge the floor for more food.

Here's what I posted earlier. But now I've seen that since I brought my fish from an iced-over pond to an aquarium a week ago, I've noticed that Cassini (Female?) has grown fatter than the other goldfish, Comet (Male?) however, they are about the same tail to nose length. Comet has also been getting about 15-20 tiny white bumps on each of his gill covers. I hope it's not ick.

Can anyone tell me what this is?

got the same on my moor--they are ulcers of some kind--got rid of mine with and remove carbon when you use it--does not say on directions--mine got bad and spread to gills so treat fast --took sveral rounds for me but they are gone gemlady7788 says good luck

It is not ich. Those are tubercles. Your goldfish with those dots is a male. The other is a female. I believe spawning season is up. Congrats.:)

Really? Oh that is sweet! I'm gonna be the caretaker of probably 200-300 (Right?) eggs! About how many of the eggs will become adults with good care?

I can only tell you it depends on your efforts. Good luck.:)

I just noticed your tank is a 10g. They will gobble the eggs the moment they spawn but if you have pond with plenty of plants, then the better for the eggs.

If and when they spawn, I will put the eggs in a separate area. I have a little holding tank that I could use, it's about 2.5 Gallons. By the time they hatch, I would probably have moved them into the 10G that the adults are in now, because I will put the adults in a 20G.

I will also be sure to add plenty of plants and Java Moss. I don't have any Java Moss yet but I will get some in a week or so.

good luck I also have read that the white spots on the gill of a goldfish means that its a male.
hope all your goldies will hatch and be like there parents

in the sticky section of the coldwater main page there is a link called 'sexing goldfish" with pictures. you can see other examples of the tubercules. bringing them from a icy pond to warm indoors probably made them think it was springtime. very neat.

Ohhhhh, I think they laid eggs! About two minutes ago, I was looking around the tank for bits of uneaten food when I saw about 20 spheres about 2mm wide attached to hidden areas on my plants. I think they laid eggs a few days ago, because about 15 of them have two dots in them and some even have a black line running aound half of their circumference. But others look white on the inside, I think these are duds, so I will remove them from the tank. And also I will remove the eggs to the smaller tank.

I found a picture here at AC of what they look like,
