They laid eggs again! This time anout 30 of them, the rocks and plants that have most of the eggs are now in the smaller tank with the week old fry. Speaking of which, here is the best picture I could take with my kinda cheap camera.
The baby goldfish are doing fine and the biggest one I have is about half an inch in length and everyday I feed them finely crushed goldfish food. Here is a picture by flaringshutter of what they look like now. (18 days old now)
Bad news: I only have about 12 left (I had 17) and I crushed 2 of them on accident.
The goldfish that made the baby goldfish are regular feeder goldfish that at the time, were 2.5 inches long. Now they are 2.75 inches and their babies now look like this:
beautiful parents! you must be making them very happy - they're breeding so young! good work, they're lovely! although they do look a bit cramped in the 10 gallon. perhaps as a congratulations present you could get them a bigger tank?
I'm going to put them outside in a pond of about 400 gallons. It will be a pool on top of sheets of plywood and the plywood will have dirt over it. And there will be dirt leading up to the edge of the pool for frogs. I can't build an inground pond because this is a rental house.
Uh oh, from 10 gallons to 400 gallons? They're going to have such a massive growth spurt! Watch out, you'll come out one morning to find small whales!
That's good though, you're going to have lots of room for those babies. I'm sad that eventually I'm going to have to say goodbye to most of mine. Ah well.
