Hi i have a question about goldfishies. I have 14 in a 100 gallon tank and my turtles chased them alot yesterday (first day) and almost got 1 but today i havent really been able to observe them because of school. They are all under the spot where my turtles bask in a small school and are close to eachother. DO they do this for protection. THey also go to the other end of the tank when a turtle comes to where they are too. ANy info would be helpful. :bowing:

Uhh i dont really care if they eat the goldfish. But i would like to add maybe some other fast fish that the turtles could not catch. I was thinking some kind of nice Guppy? maybe a tetra? Sorry i dont know too much about this stuff as i am still learning alot about it. Any input would be much appreciated.

I was under the impression that any fish in the water is a snack for the turtle, especially the smaller fishes. Also, you're going to need some heavy duty filtration because of the turtles alone. Fish seem to stick together when threatened to appear larger than they actually are so my guess would be that's the reason for them sticking together... OR the turtle may bother them less when hanging under the rock....

the only fish I would try as a NON feeder.
Giant danios never sit still long enough to get eaten lightnig fast :)
Jewel cichlid might survive even if bit a few times they are tough as nails
Tetras the only ones that might work and arnt $6 each IMHO are buenos aries tetras.
but they are right turtles and fish dont mix well.
and the water temps might not be compatable

Essentially speaking fish equal turtle food. Just be glad the turtles aren't catching all your fish durring the night. What you have set up isn't really a place any fish would want to live.

A little harsh arent you, considering that you have never once seen my tank or the fish AND you dont know how the turtles react to them. I am appauled at that...Considering there are fish that live in tiny *** little bowls.

Hmmn. Harsh? Perhaps, but there are times I like getting to the point. I admit I haven't seen your tank, but I have seen other turtle tanks. One fairly common food I have seen given to the turtles is feeder fish both guppies and goldfish. I think the best analogy I can think of is someone living in a house with a tiger. Can it be done? Yes and some people do. Would I want to do it? Definatly not.

Believe me I won't even mention the tiny bowl thing and fish.

Ok i understand sorry i may have over reacted a little hehe. ANywho go ahead and check out my new thread and leave a post with some comments.
