This week for my boyfriend's birthday I helped him get his 35-gal goldfish tank going again. In accordance with the school of feng shui that we follow (I swear we are not hippies, just strange people) we got six red goldfish and one black. At the LFS I managed to find seven healthy-looking and active fish: one comet, one black moor, two ryukin, and three orandas. They all seem very docile and interact well in the tank. However, I have one particularly large-bellied ryukin that SITS (not in a sickly way, more in an Al Bundy on Married With Children way) on the gravel at the bottom. He spends about 20% of his time doing this; otherwise, he is quite active and putters around the tank with the rest of the fish but the way he sits and looks out towards our living room... it's completely bizarre.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? I'm not really concerned as much as intrigued.

My Ryukin does the same thing. Just sits and stares,I sit there and just stare back but run off cause I think he's just trying to hypnotize me into giving more food.

That tank seems really overstocked to me, but I don't know... I think 3 orandas is really pushing it...

I don't know about the behavior, but the above posts say he/she should be fine...

Personally...I would have no more than 2 fancies in a 30G. They do get rather large. The comet...entirely different story. He should be in a pond, not only that, but he will cause some major problems for the fancies in the future. Not trying to nag... just inform ;)

If she upgrades in the future than I dont see why she couldnt have 3 goldies in her tank...........but like i said, you'd need to upgrade
