For your fancies youre going to want 30g for the first one and 10g for each additional - so for 6 youd want to have at least a 80g add the other fish and youre looking at 90+ gallons ... So if you want to keep all those fish you should look into getting a 90g aquarium.

The fancies can do fine with the danios. just maintain a temperature of 72-75 and they would all be fine. The temperature requirements for fancies and danios is actually not that far off. Fancies like 65-75 and the danios (zebra for instance) like 64-75; other species of danio like it a bit warmer than that low, but 75 would be more than adequate! I would think that minnows are for the most part cold water fish as well; and those similar temperature suggestions bear that out.

TDS (total dissolved solids), fish hormones (which can stunt growth), and probably a bunch of other nasties.

I will look into finding a 100 gal tank.

did 30% water change tonight and will check water tomorrow.

How do you test for fish hormones? I haven't seen a test kit for that.

test kits for:
carbonate hardness
general hardness (TDS)
pH
ammonia
nitrite
nitrate

Maybe I misread the first time, but it was mentioned 0.25 ammonia, 0 nitrite (?) 40 nitrate (?). I recommend the more frequent water changes because your tank is still overstocked. 5 fancies max for your tank. 4 is even better. You have 6 plus 12 danios. Yor cycle may handle that if you reduce feedings, but your nitrate will rise fast. As stated before, 10-20 nitrate. Bacteria will take care of the other 2. Only more frequent water changes will get the nitrate down. That's why I recommend 2x a week, 30-50% is fine.

i wouldnt put them in anything under 20 gal. very active fish and need swimming room. 29 gal would be fine for them after you get a big tank for the goldfish.

you cant. like i said there are many things in the water you just cant test for. we use nitrates as a way to judge it.

Do fish miss their roomates if you seperate them (get depressed, etc)?

If I put all fishies (13 danios and 6 fancies) in 100g, will that be overstocked?

if yes, would 7 danios and 6 fancies in 100g be overstocked?

If answer is no, in the 29L, can I put any other tropicals with 6 danios?

When I get 100g tank, if I take half of filter media and half of gravel and ornaments from 29l, that should help the cycling of the 100g, right?

There is SO MUCH MORE TO FISHIES than you think when starting out...

I must say it is enjoyable and rewarding to see happy fishies. I will try to post yall a picture of my goldies family; Bubbles, Diva, Frenchy, Charlie, Snickers, and Mr Wiggles (wife wonders why I call it Mr. Wiggles because I have no idea if its male or female)...

The danios are too quick and hard to distinguish, so they dont have names, besides zebras and albinos...

IMO, 100g will be fine for your current fish - both the fancies and zebras/zebra albinos have the same temperature preferences/requirements.

Yes, sharing media and substrate from an established tank can assist in the cycling process of a new tank.

Additional Filtration - UGF or RUGF + an HOB (hang on back) filter; such as an emperor 400. Filtering capacity is very important with goldfish they do have a tendency to weigh heavily on a tanks bio-load.

I think you should separate the danios and goldfish since the goldfish may grow large enough to swallow them whole (your goldfish will grow 6-8" each not including tail) so i'd be for the best. i'd get a the 100G and keep the goldfish in there with nothing else. it may seem emtpy, but think about what it will be like when they are all 8". you can keep the dainos in your current tank and make it a tropical tank if you want.
