goldies in the 75g

Just got a new one, if he makes it my tank will be maxed out for stocking. He's in QT right now. I got him at wallyworld so I'm trying not to have high hopes, but he's doing pretty good and I didn't see any visibly ill fish in the tank. I'll try to get pics tomorrow. He's a white and silver/black fantail.

xoparis, all it takes is one more little (compared to Debra Mark's) tank and a filter. ;)

my moor (strudel) hasn't grown into his eyes either.... :X lol im beginning to wonder if he ever will!

lol, I'm not sure if the globe-eye variant ever really look like they've grown into their eyes. That's probably why I like them so much. :)

Nice looking goldies. I think that you will come to enjoy the personality of the black moor quite a bit. I've had one for about 9-10 months and he definately has a personality very different from that of his tank mates. I also have a calico fantail like the one you have a video of. Also, I bought both the black moor and the fantail from wally world along with two other goldies and they have all done suprisingly well, so I hope yours do too.

Just a word of advice, it seems the black moor is better off with sinking food rather than floating food to avoid any situations where they get stuck floating at the top. I use the goldfish mini sticks and they seem to work great. You may want to try to feed him separately from the rest of the fish if possible. The moors aren't very quick and the other fish will usually get all the food before the moor gets a chance but I've found that once all the other goldies get a mini stick in their mouths I can drop another one or two in and he'll get to them while the other goldies are busy munching down their own food. Those big eyes look awesome, but they hinder the moors ability to see food sometimes.

I love black moors. They remind me of French Poodles watching them swim and prance around. LMAO.

OMG paperdragon... I just looked at your video. We both have leucistic fantails!! I just adore that fish.

Your fish isn't white and black/silver. He's leucistic (transparent). No pigment in the skin. But the eyes are black and the gills are red - so it's not an albino.

Here's mine when I got Chiffon last summer. (Formerly named Snowflake.)

For another visual reference, here's a leucistic comet I found on the web. You can see right through the skin to the muscles and gills underneath.

Mine has a few small black spots too. I suppose that's where some color would be if the skin had pigment. I think without that leucistic trait your new goldie would have been a calico fantail.

Is it possible to be partially leucistic? certain spots of black are on the surface of his skin, and he has a very bright orange spot on the base of his tail.
