Gonna be a mom soon! (I hope!)

Yep, I am super excited although I'm not touching this baby again until it hatches...it's just too fragile, but I found if I angle the flashlight in the container right I can see inside pretty well. The crack worries me, but I read if I keep the humidity up and no bright lights (they stimulate movement, so I'm going to make my last light check here in a week after it's grown a touch more, but before it's taking up much more of the egg), there's a really good chance s/he'll make it. Thanks for all the well-wishes, I'll definitely be posting pics when the teeny thing comes out. I'm setting up that 15 gallon stainless steel framed tank for her :D

that's so neat.

Update....I lost my egg a few days ago :(. I went in to mist it, and the hairline crack had widened, and it lost a lot of fluid. I'm guessing the embryo was large enough to wiggle around and that's what did it in. In good timing, yesterday the little guys at work decided to produce another one, and this time I used a spoon to shift the sand it was on into a deli cup and refuse to touch it for fear of another mishap since they're so delicate. Estimated hatch date sometime during the first week of March if this one turns out to be fertile as well. I'll update with pics when it happens :)

I'm sorry. Maybe this next one will hatch. We all learn from our mistakes though. That is how we are made. :)
