I have a 10g tank that is producing some brown algae and I was curious if anyone would suggest an algae eater for it. I have a pleco in my 26 gallon that keeps that tank really clean but for a 10g tank a pleco would get too big. Are there any algae eaters that don't get to be too big? Thanks

It would be best to figure out how to rid the tank of algae (what is causing the algae to grow) than to add a fish in there to get rid of it.

cory cats

I've never had any luck with cory cats eating algae, they like the alae wafers but I've never seen them graze on the algae in the tank.

Most of my tanks have a combo of ottos and snails. They seem to be doing a great job, plus the snails are so fun to watch!!! JM2C

Golden will get too big for a 10 gallon. Really the only algae eating fish that can fit in a 10 gallon and that is easily available is the otto.

And yes, cories will not eat algae.

Brown algae is normally common in new tanks and usually goes away after awhile by itself with water changes and vacuuming.
