good article on algae

A very interesting article to read indeed, even from a SW keeper..Its always interesting to read up on one of largest issues with aquariums, can learn so much from write up's such as this..

Thanks Nick

Oh my gosh, there are far more types of algae than I knew existed, that article was very informative... the only ones I've had to deal with were small amounts of brown algae and some hair algae after returning from holidays. I also have some Green Beard algae on my pot-plants but I find that gives the tank a more natural look.
Nice find :)

That was a really good article... helped me identify what was overtaking my tank... green beard algae. It was growing all over everything, including my plant. It covered the leaves of the plant so well, it was killing it! I just did a complete scrub-down. I think it was killing my fish too somehow, not sure but I had two die right before I cleaned it, including an algae eater who wouldn't eat the stuff. A snail i put in there also died. Anyone have clues why it would kill things?

Good article... but perhaps even more importantly, really high-qual photos.

nice link nick - personally I love my algae, but am glad I don't have this kind of problem

The photos are the best thing about that article. Before, I have based my diagnosis on the photos on plantgeek.net, and thought I had hair algae. After reading this, I know that I have staghorn algae. Maybe I can get rid of it now that I know my Bristlenose won't eat it and I'm probably adding too much liquid iron supplement! I should probably add a DIY CO2 as well.
