Tonight at 9:30 I am sad to report the passing of my first Good Aquarium Heater A Ebo-Jager 250. Purchased some time in the mid 70's for a 29H overkill for that tank but its did it job without complaining. Thought out its 25+ years of live it has seen a bit of every thing even spending a few years in a salt tank. Had several angels spawn on its flanks, It keep an ever watchful glowing eye on their development. Stood strong and unbreakable against the killer SA cichlids for a number of years. And spending its last few amid the peaceful plants suranded by 100's of schooling tetras.
And to think I questioned weather spending $30.00 for a heater was a good decision, I am sorry ebo that I ever questioned your value. You will hard to replace and will be missed.

Dang!!!

I know now that if I ever get an aquarium which is not part of a pre-done kit, I will throw in an Ebo-Jager. That sucks that you lost that one, but hopefully your next will be around for another 20+ years!

Ebo-Jager

With maybe one exception here on the forums, I have heard Ebo is the way to go! I have to have two heaters on my tank, and I'm glad I bought an Ebo. Hope the Proquatics will keep on going though...
 
Autopsy report: Warning This is not for the faint of heart.

Ok I ripped its head off and examined its guts. it seems the good old ebo had a slight drinking problem over the past 25 + years a little maybe a mill. or of water has seemed into the tube though the seal and had corroded the heating element. Although the power light would come on and off (not the only heater in this tank) it just could not produce and heat. Just goes to show what to much drinking can do a fellow.

Do you think this would be covered under warinty:confused:
 
I don't know about warranty, but as a product design engineer for a major consumer appliance manufacturer, I know the value of inspecting a product that has run that long! We get plenty of examples of products where things went wrong, but seldom get back ones where things went right. For a very long time.

What I'm hinting at is to ship that puppy off to Ebo-Jager with a letter praising its years of faithful service. Hint at recieving some award and you just might get it! That sort of information is invalueable to design engineers.

Ever thought of writing greeting cards for a living? ;)

I really like GulfCstAquarian's point. My mother in law has been writing letters of praise (or constructive critisism) to companies for years and recieving free product a lot of the time. Good advice.
