eral may is having a buy one get one for a penny sale on all fish starting Jan.
there is a foot long neddle nosed gar I must have. It is $20. what fish I choose to get with it I an still debating. They have to 6" lima shovelnose the same price they also just got in some fully grown african mudskippers, and there dorsal have always attracted me, also I wanted to set up my ten gallon with a land/water set up for some fire bellyed toads anyway. They can be kept in tens right? I know to only get one. What can go with a brackish land/water setup with an african mudskipper? anoles, fire belly toads, community gobies, yes or no? also what would you sudgest for that setup? the gar isa deffenent. all of the options exept for anything about the mubskipper would go with the 55 that has the blood parrot, and yes all convict will be gone by then exept for 2 pinks wich will be moved. What way would you use this deal

help please

Your tanks are greatly overstocked as it is. The best thing I can do to help you is to tell you not to get anymore fish, and to get rid of some that you have. 7", 8" and 12" fish do not belong in 55 gallon tanks. I am no stocking expert, but there are those here who are, and I'm sure they will agree.

Here is an article about tank stocking:

Sorubim lima - the shovelnose catfish grows to 30 inches. that's longer than your arm. you think such a fish can fit in a 55 gallon tank with a foot long gar? the answer is not only NO ... it's don't be rediculous, NO !! you already have too much fish for a 55 gallon tank. a little research BEFORE you buy fish can go a long way.

At the point of the sale my tank should look something like this:

55 gallon:
8" blood parrot,
4" G. sevrum, 7" syno. , 1" J.D., 2.5" choc. pleco, 1 3" G. terror

as you can see, all convicts will be gone, along with one of the green terrors.
I plan to upgrade the tanks this may. I have already decided aginst the shovelnose because to preaditors that demand live food would be to much. I am however still going to get the gar an d upgrade my tanks. The employee who I know and that always gives correct information was telling me about a few tank mates for the mudskipper in his temporary ten gallon. He said he had 3 dwarf indian mudskippers in a 20 long and that he just brought 1 ofthe 2 africans home and that he quickly adapted. He also said the tank had a few white clouds and night gobies, wich he said were schoolers and very hardy cummunity gobies. also there were 3 foot long dragonfish. In cunclusion we dicided that since the tank would be upgraded soon, that It would be a good Idea to get the neddle nose gar for the 55 and use the $20 extra for the mudskipper. afterwards, save $10 by buying 2 night gobies, next buy 1 reat looking 5" spotted sleeper goby that has a great apperance for $15 and use the free extra $15 to get another night goby and 2 ballon mollies. also with that purchase he said he even make it 20 percent off, so, including tax it would be only roghly $40.

If everything works out my tanks will be about like this:

55 gallon: 8" blood parrot, 9"-12" neddle- nose gar, 4" G. sevrum, 7" syno. , "1 J.D., 2.5" choc. pleco, 1 3" G. terror

55gallon:
6 danio, 3" G. swordtail, 2 4" angels, 2" krib. ,
7 black skirts, 10" pleco, 2" cory, 4" syno. ,
5" silver dollar, 6" syno. eurpterus, 5" rapheal,
2 5" dojo loach, 7" dojo loach, 5" horse loach

40gallon: breeding pair of pink convicts and 3" green terror dither

10gallon half-full: 5" african mudskipper, 5" spotted sleeper goby, 3 1.5" night gobies, and 2 ballon mollies (tank size only temorary)

Why are you asking if you have already made up your mind?
People here are not going to agree that inappropriate set-up of fish is "ok". Your needle nose gar won't even be able to turn around in that tank.

It also appears to me that the lfs employee you reference is not giving correct information. Sounds to me like he is selling fish. There are very few lfs employees that I believe. I take it upon myself to do my own research and learn what the fish I want to keep need for space and tankmates.

employee who I know that always gives correct information

any employee telling that it's "ok" to put a foot long needlenose gar in a 55 gallon tank is not giving you correct information. in fact, he's giving you information that's going to kill your fish.

State record here in Michigan for Needlenose or Longnose Gar Pike is 18 pounds and 53".

fish_breeder- Is this the same fish you'r getting ?

According to an article here
they need a tank of atleast 500 gallons, as the max size of this fish is 69"
