Good fish to breed for a newb?

There definitely are some much tougher livebearers SubRosa, though when most people say livebearers, they're usually just referring to the big four - guppies, mollies, platies and swordtails.

For me forums such as this are about getting and giving accurate information, regardless of what "most people" think! When I see someone post something patently incorrect I say something.

I wouldn't blame you for correcting people, I'm just saying that most people generally use the term livebearer simply to cover just the big four, as it is easier than saying "guppies, mollies, platies and swordtails".

True enough Pappy! He knows what he wants, he just doesn't know all that there is to have!

Haha.. until you mentioned it pappy, I didn't even realize SubRosa and I were sorta making the same point in different ways.

..gosh, I feel like I've dragged this thread off-topic a number of times already.

I might suggest plecos or angels.. look for fish that boast "parent raise" that's actually the step I'm on.. I have a pair of long fin rams, and 4 long fin bushy nosed plecos.. hoping for success! And I sure hope you find a good fit too.. I think babies are the most satisfying thing about this hobby.. you just know you're doing something right if they're making babies! :D

The killie fish might be a good option, I have a bit of research to do now that I have a few places to start. Thank you for all the sugestions AC. I just didn't have any idea where to start.

I have a male and female blue gourami I am kind of experimenting with. When I first brought the female home and put her in my 125 with the male I already had, he was quite mean to her so I put her in my 20 long. I have since traded them places and the male is building a bubble nest in some of the plants that reach to the surface. I'm just not sure how to go about introducing the female to the tank with out him being an a$$. Any advice on this would be great.

Peace,
Caleb
