I recently got a 12 gallon tank with live sand, filter and light kit. I was told that the best fish to start a new tank out were damsels and there is a yellow tailed blue damsel and two 3 lined damsels. I was thinking of getting a couple of fire (fighter) gobies and either a scooter bleeny or mandarin goby, still debating on the last one. Would the fire gobies and the bleeny be good in the tank or is that too many fish? Any other ideas would be good too.

too many fish by far, you'd only be able to swing 2 fish in that aquarium. no damsels other than blue will fit, and no matter what you do, DO NOT get a mandarin goby! the best stocking plan would be a firefish(goby) and a clownfish, and that's about it for fish.

scooter blennies are pretty hard to keep, up there with dragonets (mandarin gobies) and fire gobies are territorial unless they are a mated pair. you would be best getting something like a clown and a fire goby, or you could do a single lawnmower blenny.
