Good ground cover ?

What's Glosso's light requirement? I only have 2 wpg. Also, what's HC? Is that the HEMIANTHUS CALLITRICHOIDES in the previous post?

HEMIANTHUS CALLITRICHOIDES= HC. People call it HC because they can't pronounce the name! Its also been given the name Dwarf baby tears.

Personally, I do not like using large leaf plants to cover a foreground. To me it is not attractive. I have seen people do this with other plants like Hygrophila difformis, (wisteria) and it doesn't cost 10 dollars for three little tiny stems! But the plant IS cool looking. I would use it as a MIDDLE ground plant. Plants that are true mid level are hard to find. A nice large group of that hygro with a carpet plant like HC in front of it, or surrounding it would look absolutely killer!

Bright, brighter the better. Same for HC. Read this article on how to set up a Glosso tank

creating a glossostigma tank

I get ya. I have just started glosso that I got from another forum member. I'm wondering if I can supplement the 2wpg light I have with some ferts.

Thanks for that link Robert H, good link. Now I'm debating how to get my wife to agree that I need just one more light fixture over my tank ;)

at 2wpg, unless your lights are <12" above your substrate, forget the HC, Glosso (unless you like it tall & weedy looking), etc etc.

Look for
Echinodorus tenellus, chain sword
Sagittaria subulata, dwarf sag

and maybe
Eleocharis acicularis, dwarf hairgrass

Drats! I should have spent the extra money on the double bulb fixture. To make it worse, my tank is about 24" tall! :(

I agree. :) And I don't think Dwarf Hairgrass will like your lighting either. Marsilea is probably the best "ground covering" plant for your light besides the E. tenellus and Sag. Even with your current light and pressurized CO2, my guess is that still won't be enough for HC, Glosso, or hairgrass since your tank is so tall.

You can't make up for lack of light with ferts....its not even close to the same thing.
