Hello Everyone,

New to this website but have been in the hobby for many years. Have a 30 gallon tank at the moment but am inheriting a 55 gallon octagon tank soon. I know it has been some time since the tank was in use and according to my boyfriend had significant lime buildup. They scraped and against my advice they used some bleach in with water to let it soak. I know that it has been at least 2 months ago that they did that. Does anyone think there will be any kind of lasting effect from this? Not sure how much water to bleach that they used and was only in there for a day or less. Am thinking when I get it I will clean it with water and vinegar like I have done before and that should take care of it. Anyone's thoughts?

I am going to turn that one into a large fish one. Currently I have 2 blue gourami's (forgive my spelling) I need to get outta my tank. I have mostly mollies and platties and a couple of bottom feeders. My kids want to see "baby" fish and have had a lot of luck in the past with mollies. I would like to add more gourami's and find larger catfish. My b/f has a 90 gallon that I would love to have, with mainly gourami's and a larger catfish that I love to watch. (He lives 250 miles away so I just can't go watch his when I want.) Also, any advice on a canister filter for my new one? Always had a power filter but want to go with canister on the larger one. Been looking and just was curious on anyone else's experiences with them.

Thanks, Sorry this got so long.

I would personaly wash it out with a 50/50 white vinagar solution before use and rinse well...all wshall be fine with that.

Your best option is to create yourself a thread here in Freshwater Products and DIY and get people's opinions on your filter options, you will get far more responses over there. Freshwater Products
