Most of the fish that im looking at are mid level and cory's are bottom. Any good surface swimmers? I'm trying to be good and give everyone their own space :)

well surface and mid-dwelling is pretty much the same. there are only a few FW fish that spend their entire lives at the surface, hatchetfish and butterfly fish, for example.

guppies are top feeders too... it really depends on what you are keeping in the tank. If you look at the fishes mouth, you can spot a top level fish if the mouth is at the top of their head... as a guppies is... a betta too...

I would definately go with Harlequin Rasbora as my top choice, by Dwarf Gourami USED to hang out nearer the top until he decided he was going to be a Cory

My top-dwellers were my danios. Sure, they were usually all over the place and can be from time to time, but once I bought some neons and other middle-swimmers, they were content to swim higher where they had more elbow room... well... if they had elbows anyways. :P

Any Anabantids (Bettas, Dwarf Gouramis, etc.) will stay near the surface. Also, hatchetfish and butterfly fish will. With hatchets, you should have some floating plants and a good tank cover, because they like to jump.

Top Swimmers

Zebra Danios are very active top swimmers. Also white clouds. These (white clouds) are a minnow however and usually require slightly cooler water then most tropicals. Zebra danios are a good choice usually though, just be sure to get at least 6 of them because they are a schooling fish.
