ok...I have a 90 gallon tank....in the 90 gallon I have 2 blood parrots, 2 tinfoil barbs, 1 pleco, 1 raphael catfish and 1 clown loach...

ok....I saw online that someone is selling a 20 gallon tank which has 2 african oscars, and 1 large pleco....ok when I read that..I thought OMG...that is way too small for them...

anyways...I was thinking about adopting the 2 oscars....I really feel bad for them...and Iknow where my tank is larger...they would be more comfortable and could "stretch out" .....

do you guys think that the african oscars would work well with my other fish in my 90 gallon? There are 2 oscars - one male and one female...the girl said that they have to go together and that she doesnt want them separated...

no, 2 oscars need atleast 150G, your pleco I assume is a common and will grow 20+ inches and need 4-800G for an adult, most of the time they are crap machines and dont do much but crap. your raphael will do very much better in a school of 8 and they get 4-8 inches. also your clown loaches will do better in a school of 6 as well.. I would suggest not adopting the oscars..

youd be overstocked, but you could do it. itd be much better for the os in a 90 then 20 anyway. i dont know anything about blood parrots, but i dont think theyr too aggressive. it could work, just keep up massive frequent wcs. o and by the way, what the heck is an african oscar? i thought they only came from sa?

I agree with the others.you would be overstocked. you could do it for awhile tho.

you would have to be very diligent on the water changes. I see you only want the oscars?? that 's good..if you added a large pleco it woudl push you way over.

btw, I only know of Oscars from South America(parts of Florida)

i am not sure what is with the african part haha that is what they told me...so I went with it...I have never heard of them either lol
so blood parrots are chichlids too..however you spell it...anways...they arent agressive at all as far as I know

so I should go for it? I just feel bad for them because they are in a 20 gallon and the person that has to get rid of them says they have plenty of room in that tank...I dont believe it and though they would be better off in a larger tank

blood parrots arent agressive at all, even with their own species and between males

I'm not sure about this, but oscars can be aggressive and blood parrots are very peaceful... So the blood parrots might not get enough food. Just a thought, you don't want the peaceful fish to be bullied.

i say go for it and save those poor oscars, but thats just my opinion. i dont suppose your planning on upgrading your tank anytime soon?

yeah I dont know what to do....personally I Think that they would do better in my 90 gallon tank....rather than being in the 20 gallon.....I just dont know what to do....people from here and other places are telling me different things....

no doubt youll be overstocked, youll need massive water changes very frequently. if anything, get one, or maybe get rid of some fish(the tbarbs, theyll need a bigger tank imo anyway, and youd be perfectly stocked if you got rid of them, you may even be able to add a couple more clown loaches since they do better in schools.).
