Thanks everyone for all the tips and suggestions. You have all given me a lot to think about. I have started doing some research and checking into the bank account, but I'm betting the visit from the air-condition repair man this morning is going to really put a hold on things for a bit. ARGH!!! Guess better before this happened before I started shopping for a tank than after.

I know what you mean. I had my tank about half full of water during the initial set-up when the A/C died on me. Had to stop everything and pay out for a replacement. Sucks cuz I was looking forward to spending that money on the tank. In a way, I kinda still did since the A/C helps keep the tank cool.
Well it turns out I have a faulty thermostat that was going to cost me about $300 to get repaired....but the guy was honest with me and actually told me where some are on sale and showed me how to put it in myself. WOOHOO!!
The other half is itching to go look at fish for the freshwater tank so I might have to scope out some pricing on the marine side of the store.
I'm just new to SW. I have kept freshwater for years. I'm actually thinking about a 55gal tank as they have one on sale with stand and canopy for $259 at a local store. Now I need to think about where to put it.
I've kept FW tanks for over 6 years. Always had alot of fun. I decided to go SW back around Decemeber 2006. I researched everything I could possibly need to know for about 4 months and I set my tank up in early April. I recommend you research, research, and then do more researching. hehe. I've learned so many things and avioded some big mistakes. Get a few books and a magazine or two and always ask on AC. this site has saved my butt many times in SW.
I went with a 30 gallon tank, skimmer, small filter for circulation and two powerheads. 35 lbs of live rock, sand...
I choose 30 gallons because it wasn't TOO big that I would get overhelmed and not TOO small that I'd get bored with it.
Just so you know, in total I've spent around $1000 bucks on my tank, animals and all supplies. Of course, I love my tank. lol. It's worth it. :headbang2:
