Ok, this is my first time writing one of these. I have a 5 gallon tank with a male gourami and a black phantom tetra. The gourami seems to be picking on the tetra. He chases him away and he won't eat. We went to a pet store and they said that the gourami would be okay with the tetra. Is there any hope for the tetra. If not, what other fish can be put in the tank with the gourami? The tetra also twitches all the time. Is that normal? Please respond quickly. Thank you

i rember somthing about tetras twitching as a mating dance... But you only have 1 tetra so that would be weird...

And i dont think gourami is good with tetras...everyone loves picking on tetras and the gourami is kind likes tot ake over spaces in the tank.

And the 5gal is to small plus tetras need to be in groups of 4 or more.

If you have one of those blue/gold or three striped gourami, that's the reason why. Those gouramis can be pretty aggressive and territorial especially in that small tank. The other kind of gourami, eg. moonlight/pearl gourami is a bit less aggressive. That being said, 20 gallon or larger would probably be a bit more ideal even if it's a dwarf gourami.
