So, I was set on getting the Triumph Thruxton, but now this thing came out. I wasn't usually a big fan of street bikes, but look at this thing! It's awesome. great power, 3 cylinders on 675 CC's.... got me drooling.


I'm stuck cause I also love the look of the thruxton. gotta see it in person. It's raw, looks powerful, cool looking, retro!!!

What are your thoughts?

That's what they say on the Datona 675! That's really pushing a smaller engine...!

I prefer engines above 1100cc. I had a 650cc for years and it was not too fun cruising at 70mph highway speeds.

I'm surprised you went from pure "retro look" to "lay-down" sport type. That's a big difference. I know my back would not 'put ip' with the lay-down sport bike. I rode a Hyabusa once, and that was enough.

I'm so confused. joe, I was never really into sports bikes, but I've had the oppurtunity to ride a few, and they're just so fun!!!

I still like the thruxton... MQP, I really like those older 60's bikes as well, but seeing how I don't know anything about mechanics, I wouldn't want to risk purchasing an older bike and being stuck having to pay for repairs by sending it to the garage all the time. That's why I like the thruxton. Its got that classic look .

Looking at it on the picture gives the thruxton no credit at all... you gotta see it in person. It's a jaw dropper.


As for the Harley, they're awesome bikes, but I'm not a "harley" kinda guy... :) I'd just feel wierd riding a harley.

I like BMW's as well ... Only thing I find wierd about them is how their engines look, with their "pistons (is it)?" are sideways rather than upright... But they're cool bikes too.


So many choices... Everyone's coming out with really nice bikes... From Yamaha, Suzuki, honda... I guess I'll keep on researching...

joe, I don't know if I'd wanna get a bike over 1100 cc's to start off. The thing that caught my eye on the daytona is how a smaller engine delivers so much torque cause of those 3 cylinders.... I read a few reviews on the bike, and they all seem good. Maybe I'll get myself a Vmax! :)
 
i love those old trumpets, but if you don't know much about working on them or have a friend who does, stay away :) i rode a 69 bonneville for a while and it seemed like everytime i rode it i had to mess with the electrics or those pain in the butt dual amal carbs. those new trumpets with the retro look, i love them, all the good looks and from what i've been told, none of the hassles. to go along with someone elses comment, you'll be really suprised at how fast that 650 turns into not enough motor, especially if you plan on doing a lot of highway riding. just the opinions of a guy who's rode just about everything out there (save the exceptionally rare/exotics). either way good luck and ride safe.

I don't think I'll be doing much highway with the bike. . . mostly driving around in the city.... But I'll see. . ..
 
For a lay-down style sport bike, the Yamaha YZF R1 is ...incredible.

At 998cc, this bike provides >>183 horsepower<< !
No that you need it, but it's real nice knowing it's there!

Supposedly the Vmax will be soon upgraded to an incredible jump from 1200cc to somewhere in the 1700cc range! The rumor is it could happen in 2007.
