For a lay-down style sport bike, the Yamaha YZF R1 is ...incredible.

At 998cc, this bike provides >>183 horsepower<< !
No that you need it, but it's real nice knowing it's there!

:D

Supposedly the Vmax will be soon upgraded to an incredible jump from 1200cc to somewhere in the 1700cc range! The rumor is it could happen in 2007.

wow!!!! Very nice!!!

a 1700 cc vmax?? hehe... I guess you'll be upgrading in a couple of years joe?

I have always gone with yamaha, what you should do is go sit on every different brand of bike and note how they feel, my friend sold his honda 600RR because they are small and cramped in comparisson to my Yamaha R6. So as for as i know the yamahas are the most comfortable. If i slide all the way up to the gastank i am almost completly vertical, but there is plenty of room to slide back and lay down for high speeds as well. I dont know how long you have been riding, but i know a 600 is plenty of power for a novice, an example, if you get on an R1 hard in 3rd it will pull right up and you could panic. I am thinking about selling mine and going to an aprilla, but im not sure wich way aprilla is going after being bought out, so i will probly end up with a R1. So yea go with what is comfortable because you have to be comfortable on something to have fun with it.

We love our Harley....

I like BMW's as well ... Only thing I find wierd about them is how their engines look, with their "pistons (is it)?" are sideways rather than upright... But they're cool bikes too.

:)
Do all BMWs have horizontally-opposed-pistons? I didn't think the K series does. 0-60 in 3.4!
