i went to the LFS yesterday, and got a few fish for my 129 african tank. i got a BGK about 3 inches long, a zebra red tail loach, about 3 inches long, and a sergeant major loach about 1.5 inches long. they will be in with male peacocks, assorted labidochromis, and assorted tanganyikans.

they are quarentining in a 20 gal together. and all seem to be ok.

will i need to do anything special to feed the BGK or will he come out and eat when i feed the tank? will he eat flake?

anyone have any comments, or opinions about these fish?

all are acclimated to high ph by the way.

i think i might get 2 more sergeant major, he seems to want to be with others, he is following my madagascar rainbow all around the 20 gal.

i had A bkg one time he is was really neat. He got to big so i had to get rid of him :( try feeding him live food or pellets thats what i tried to feed him. I never saw him eat but he staye dalive so he had to b eeating something.

he was in his little structure thing when i fed brineshrimp today, and a shrimp went in and he backed out and snatched it up. he is really cool, but isnt out at all, are there any tricks or anything to get them to come out more. they werent hiding in the LFS they were out darting around everywhere.

he's already territorial, he was in his little 2 story cave, and the seargent major loach venture in right in front of the BGKs nose, the BGK just charged him and bit him and he darted away.

i suppose this is a good thing since he will be going in with cave dwelling cichlids who will push him around if he doesnt stick up for himself.

one thing you can do is get a clear tube for him and he might hide in it thinking u cant see him. But you can! some one at the fish store told me that.
