So I have a couple questions, even after reading the chapter twice, they have not covered this and I am wondering if any of you all could possibly help me out. I've googled my azz off with these questions to no avail. I don't see it in the chapter I'm reading, but I wouldn't be surprised if this pops up on my test. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance...

#1) What are the 5 most popular types of printers available today?
~I have no idea, I am wonderin if they mean laser, desktop, inkjet...or
do they mean brands?

#2) What are the four ways to execute or load software in Windows?
~My thoughts were run command, cmd prmpt, shortcut icon and exe file...

#3) What do you call the registry files that windows 95 automatically creates as backups evertime windows boots successfully?
~Is it System.dat and User.dat?

also, one more question lol

#4) Which boot option would you use to emilnate the network connection as a source of a boot problem you are troubleshooting? How should you do this?
~ Is just rebooting in safe mode?

#1 - you said, "type", so my guess is deskjet, laserjet, etc. I recommend visiting the HP site to see what types they have. Keep mobile devices in mind.

#2 - Hmm... load can have two meanings (load can also mean install). If the question is really an "or" option, you are well on your way. How about autoloading at boot (the Start folder)?

#3 - the answer to that one is buried deep... how about boot.bak? arrrgg. It has to do with the last successful load... remember when you have a choice after booting following a blue screen? "The last successful...."

#4 - Think about this... Booting from the network is an option in the CMOS.

Hope that gets your cognitive juices flowing. :)

for number 1, I'd guess the following: Dot Matrix, Inkjet, Laser, thermal and dye sublimation

for number 2, I'm going to take a guess at the following: Double clicking icon, going to start and run and entering the path and filename, doing it from command prompt and lastly going to any open window (even IE browser window) and in the address bar entering the path and filename similar to the run field.

number 3, I dont remember but I'd be more inclined to think its system.dat

number 4, I'd choose safemode (the one without network support) since there is also option for safemode with network support.

..don't forget to try the Microsoft support area for the correct file name ... I just realized you specified "registry" files, not boot files. :o I believe it is the system.da0 file.

Thanks for the replies guys, it helps to get such quick responses that are reconfirming my original thoughts....especially after just having read the chapter again.
