Well I got my first German Blue Ram yesterday. He was at first when I put him in my 10gallon he was getting beat a bit by my bolivian who has been moved else where and will probably be given away. Tonight the ram begins to waste away and its almost dead. Water Temp: 81F pH: 7.2, Ammonia: 0, Nitrite: 0, Nitrate: 0 dgH: 7, dkH:7. I did see a bit of ich on his 2 side fins earlier today and put a bit of quick cure in. Maybe thats what killed him. I also did dose my normal flourish ferts today. I know 10gallon is kind of small but that shouldn't have killed him. I'm gonna be moving these fish to my 36 soon or a new 16gallon bow soon *Possibly*. Any where that I probably went wrong??

What are the active ingredients of Quick Cure? If I remember a post somewhere about this med before, it has Formalin and Malachie Green, correct? That's a harsh treatment to the ram IMO. I am under the impression the ram was already severely stressed. Transportation, harassments by other fish and disease alone have put a toll on it. Why did you buy a fish when you mentioned you saw white spots? Was the ten gallons a quarantine tank? Kepe the QT simple. Operate with a sponge filter, barebottom and a few decorations for refuge.

:iagree:

agree with Lupin.

I'll add...Blue Rams are notorious for being sensitive. a bare bottom tank is good to qt them in with some cover. it is also a good idea to bump the temp as Blue rams can take warm water temps well. 84 is not uncommon for blue ram tanks.
they do best in pristine water.so keep up with water changes. .

Agree as well.

Also, the manner in which blue/gold rams sparkle in the light can make it appear as if they may have ich when they actually do not. I have seen this mistake made more than once.

I saw the it the morning after getting it. Not in the store. Anyway, I'm gonna try it again in the coming weeks after I give the bolivian away.
