My little flame dwarf died a few weeks ago, and I've been meaning to replace him with another dwarf flame and a mate. Unfortunately, my store doesn't get in flames very often, and even less often do they get pairs. I was going in today to special order a pair, but I saw they had true color dwarf gourami pairs. They were just so pretty that I picked two up. They are getting ready for their incubation tank right now.

I have never had a pair of fish before. What should I look out for with them? I will not encourage them to mate, but if they do get pregnant, I won't do anything to stop her from having a healthy fry.

I don’t make it a habit to name fish, but when I told my boyfriend I got a “beautiful pair of love fish” he asked which he was and which I was. So just because, I’m naming them Aren and Lauren. I teased him that that Aren may become a daddy. J Once they have a chance to calm down from the move and let their colors show I'll make sure to take pictures.

I wouldnt be surprised if the male harasses the female often. Gouramis usually do best in a group (3 males and 5 or 6 females usually works), or alone.

alright, I'll look into getting a few more. I'd have to get a bigger tank to do so, which I've been wanting to do anyways. So far they have been very civil to eachother.

As soon as they settle in, if conditions are ok, the male will be in the mood for love (tonight is riiiiiight, for looooove) and he'll be quite irritating to the female. Get one more female and no more males and he'll divide his attention between the two of them.
