Got a used hood.

So I got a used hood a my lfs it was pretty nice it only needed a little cleaning. after we cleaned the hood I saw that their was already a light
in their.

It is one of the hagen lights and its a Sun-Glo, my dad says we should use it, but I am a little skeptacle and also not sure if it will harm the fish I plan to put in there.

Let me try to answer your question with a question - why would light harm your fish ?
I'd say 99% of us have lights over their aquarium. The type of bulb doesnt really matter aslong as its not flourescent red or green.

I would guess that it's old though, especially if it came from the LFS. I think I would tend to hold onto it for a spare but get a new one. You never know how old it is and with age, most bulbs need replacing as they lose what you're trying to achieve.
