Hi all!

I got fed up with the little light that came with my eclipse 12, so I got three 27 watt CF's (package said 100watt equivalent)... my tanks looks nice and bright now, but I'm not sure what types of plants will flourish:

27*3 = 81 watts, 81/12gallons =~ 6wpg... is this too much? I'm sort of hoping that I get green algae so I can have tons of ghost shrimp and three or four ottos (so algae would be enough to support them, and they'd be hungry enough to keep the tank clean).

if 6wpg is too much, I can take one of the bulbs away (54w/12 =4.5 wpg) for a little less light.

And YES! I'm going to do a DIY CO2 system.

What are your favorite plants, now that I have enough light to GROW things?

(Yay!!!!!!)

Thanks all!

70watts of Metal Halide on 9 gallon tank!!
70/9 = 7.8WPG!!!

i win

id second the idea of growing glosso, with that lighting you can make a nice glosso carpet, or even riccia. beautiful pearling.

unfortunately lfs around here doesnt sell glosso and im not about to pay 40 dollar for just shipping. living hawaii is not good if youre freshwater aquarist

ya if i wanted to do a saltwater set up, i can just go outside and grab some saltwater and sand! no need for trying to figure out how much salt to put in and all that.
but being from japan i couldnt resist the ADA's dark force....

thanks, the place i live was okay, no water was spilled from my tank and i keep my water level about 1/2 inch from the rim :)
