Finally got my Metal Halide/Power compact combo today. It has 2 - 150 watt MH bulbs, 2 - 55 watt PC bulbs and 2 - 36 watt PC bulbs. My corals and Anenome seem to love it. Just had to share my excitement.

I know this is a rude ? but can you tell me how much the lights cost. I can't figure out lights for nothing so I thought I would just copy (highest form of flattery, right?) somebody.:p

Not rude at all. I was in the same boat. They were 615.00(including next day shipping) on ebay. Check out petsupplyliquidator on ebay. I looked at lots of differant lights and these seemed to be the best bang for the buck and so far I have no complaints. Let me know if you cant find them and I will send you a link to the ones I purchased.

I'll never forget the first time I turned on my halides and saw those shimmer lines everywhere.....ahh, good times. What brand/color of MH bulbs are you running?

Indeed - they made me wonder how I ever got along with just PC lights! Suddenly, all the money I spent on the MH lights didn't seem to matter anymore - it finally looked like a 'real' reef :) My anemone and corals thanked me too.

And in my book Corals by Eric E. Bornerman i read that those shimmers are 4 times more powerful then the normal lights. It also stated that this is very good for the corals to recieve this blast of light here and there. I read this the other day so what i ust sais was not right out of the book so if you have the book i suggest you read it.

Hope i almost helped bijan

That is interesting. I never thought about that before. I did come up with a question though. As far as actinic lighting I have one 36 watt PC bulb which is actinic and the two 55 watt PC bulbs are 50/50. I was considering buying just straight 10k 55 watt bulbs and making both the 36 watt bulbs actinic. Or maybe the other way around. Does anyone have any opinions on this?
Thanks,
Doug
