I got these fish from an unknown person, left on my Doorstep with a note saying they Eff too much, so I have 2 what I think are 2 rams of unknown sex and about 30 Fry. I know nothing about them.

how often do they breed, how many eggs, what they eat, would they be fine with angels, what is the total care requirements for these fish, they are in a 30G tank with a Emperor filter rated for 50G Amm 0 NitrITES 0 NitraTES 4 PH is 6.4 Temp is 84. do I atleast have a decent tank for them?

If they're rams....that's a very nice tank size for them......

Can you take a picture? That would help immensely!

Rams tend to like clear, warm, softish water with a ph in the 6 range (though many farm bred rams can survive at phs up to 7.5 or even 8). Conditions you describe for your tank sound ideal.

Bolivian Rams are larger and less colorful than German Blue Rams but are also usually hardier.

Like most cichlids, they make good parents.

They have small mouths and sometimes don't like coming to the surface to eat (I've had rams that will and rams that wont). Sinking pellet food for small fish works well for them (I use spectrum small fish pellets). Bloodworms are a welcome treat.

I don't know about them with angels, if they're GBRs, then they are much smaller than the angels and could get picked on......

on the other hand.....Rams tend to be bottom dwellers and angels like to hang out higher up....if the rams have lots of hiding spots and caves, it could be fine.

Aside from the angels, what else do you have in that tank?

thats all, the fry were removed and otherwise delt with, I dont have the room for them and the LFS would not take them, the one I can describe as maybe 1.5in long with Pink on it's belly, the other is about 2 in long with no pink

rams

Just wanted to say i wish someone would leave rams on my door step...and i would love to have the fry....i have a 75gal with about 12 rams in it and i want to add more...so if anyone has some for sell or give away think of me ..pm me thanks Karen.

They should be fine with the angels. Too bad about the fry....especially if the parents had raised them themselves, that is rare in blue rams..usually they eat them after a bit.

I would like a pair of rams that would raise their own brood....would make things a bit easier here....hehe....

I diddnt have the room... so the dempsey got a snack.. they were too small to sell or ship, they will breed again..

look like blue rams(gold morph) you can ship fry..if you get fry and don't want them see if anyone is willing to pay shipping to get the fry.
from the sound of it you have a male and female.

btw, you don't need a big tank to grow out fry.

rams will do fine with angels..the angels won't pick on them. they tend to occupy different levels of the tank.

nice pair...
