Doctors:

(A) The number of doctors in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year are 120,000.
(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 17.14%.

Statistics courtesy of the U.S. Dept of Health & Human Services

Guns:

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000 (yes that's 80
million).
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.001875%.

Statistics courtesy of the FBI.

********************************************************

So statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous
than gun owners.

********************************************************
Remember, guns don't kill people, doctors do.

******************************************************
FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

*******************************************************
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors
before this gets completely out of hand!!!

******************************************************
Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.

Yup, you can make statistics say anything.

According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2003, 17,013 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes - an average of one almost every half-hour. These deaths constituted approximately 40 percent of the 42,642 total traffic fatalities.

So we should be rewarding drunk drivers, because 60% of all traffic fatalities are caused by sober drivers.

This is very true!! Another fact.........

Registered owners of class 3 firearms (full auto) have never had a reported case of an accidental death. That makes them the safest group of gun owners there are!!

Since 1934 (the passing of the national firearms act) there has been only one case of a NFA firearm used in a homicide, and the perp was a LEO. So they are by far the safest group of gun owners.

I think the main reason for this is the high cost of admission to play the game!! Not too many people are going to spend thousands of dollars to own and register a class 3 firearm to shoot someone!! Organized crime is using them less and less also since 9/11 due to increased pressure on illegal arms dealers. I guess the days of Sonny Corleone and the toll plaza are over! ;)

I personally am waiting and hoping that 1968 gun control act and the 1986 firearms protection act are tossed.

Its rather stupid to say these guns are legal, then say you cant make them or import them.

Anyone got statistics on Samurai Sword owners???

Considering its tradition not to return a sword to its sheath without it first tasting blood, either there are really just a bunch of samurai sword sheath owners, or they do a lot of killing. :thm:

Or very few traditional Samurai...I know where I'd place my bet. ;)

Statistics are a valuable tool for presenting the truth in a format best suited to induce a specific desired response in the audience.
