got white stuff floating around in the water

A very fine white precipitate? What have you added to the water that could coprecipitate with high levels of calcium carbonate? Phosphate pH buffer maybe? A flocculant?

A milky haze? A recent stirring of the substrate?

Don't give us any hints; let us guess! Is it bigger than a breadbox?

Man, you're full of good quotes.

Lucky I know you come from a loving and tolerant place :p

I know what it is!

It's that "packing popcorn" stuff that comes with Power Compact light fixtures. Shake them off before you put the lights on the tank!

(kidding... :D )

Give us more description or some background. Something Hercule Poirot can work on...
