Got worms?

Where did you get the worms that you were feeding to the cichlids? They must know what they were. If that were my tank, I would get another ten and save as many of the snails and shrimp that I could, being careful not to get any of the worms in a new tank with them. Then I would buy 3 or 4 Indian Dwarf Puffers and let them at it.

That has crossed my mind a time or ten. I need to figure out exactly what type of worms they are and find out how to properly cultivate them. They obviously do great in my tank, but why? LoL. I'm not sure what would be necessary to keep them another way.
You know selling them as cultures is a great idea. You could experiment and see if they would live in gravel in plastic shoe boxes and stuff. If your experiments on getting them to live somewhere other than the tank fail you know where to get plenty more to try again.

The tricky part is that this is her cherry shrimp tank, its not necessarily conducive to adding a hungry fish unless she can move the majority of hte cherry shrimp first.

I did a search on google images and put in tubifex worms. The pictures look exactly like what is going on in that tank. They have to be tubifex worms. Anyway, that is my guess.

yuck crim, just yuck! my fiance would see that and gag lol.

LoL! I wouldn't blame her a bit. My bf doesn't even like to look into the tank and keeps telling me that I have to get it taken care of! LoL
