gourami and yellow labs

Won't work. The gouramis will end up hurt. The yellow labs will pick on him. Gouramis are too slow and have too long of fins to be housed with africans. The only things i recommend adding to an african tank are synos or maybe a BN pleco.
i have a sailfin spotted pleco. in the tank. i just want something to liven up the tank. these yellow labs just chill in the same spots. I am used to having guppies so i like playfull tanks. these fish seem boring to me. is there any other fish i could add with yellow labs that are playful and busy swimmers
what size is your tank? I have never seen boring mbuna before. Mine are always out cruising around, they never stop moving. How many yellow labs do you have?

Well the tank size is probably the limiting factor in seeing them swim around.
But even when you move them to a 30g i wouldnt' add much else. IN a 30g you could maybe add another yellow lab(aiming for 1m/3f). ANd then maybe a smaller pleco(sailfins get huge, a bristlenose would be a better choice).
BUt in small tanks(<55g) you can't really keep many africans together. They are too aggressive to be kept in small tanks
